New package designmatch with initial version 0.1
Package: designmatch
Type: Package
Title: Construction of Optimally Matched Samples for Randomized Experiments and Observational Studies that are Balanced by Design
Version: 0.1
Date: 2016-01-23
Author: Jose R. Zubizarreta <zubizarreta@columbia.edu>, Cinar Kilcioglu <ckilcioglu16@gsb.columbia.edu>
Maintainer: Jose R. Zubizarreta <zubizarreta@columbia.edu>
Depends: R (>= 3.2), lattice, MASS, slam, Rglpk
Suggests: gurobi, Rcplex, Rsymphony
SystemRequirements: GLPK library package (e.g., libglpk-dev on Debian/Ubuntu)
License: GPL-2 | GPL-3
Description: Includes functions for the construction of matched samples that are balanced by design. These functions include options for directly balancing means, higher order moments and distributions of the covariates, that can be used in observational studies with treatment and control units, cases and controls, and more generally in settings with instrumental variables and in discontinuity designs. These functions can also be used for the design of randomized experiments, for example for matching before randomization. The performance of these functions is greatly enhanced by the Gurobi optimization solver and its associated R interface. For their installation, please follow the instructions at http://user.gurobi.com/download/gurobi-optimizer and http://www.gurobi.com/documentation/6.5/refman/r_api_overview.html; also, we have included direction in the gurobi_installation file in the inst folder.

Package PHENIX updated to version 1.2.1 with previous version 1.2 dated 2015-04-29

Title: Phenotypic Integration Index
Description: Provides functions to estimate the size-controlled phenotypic integration index, a novel method by Torices & Méndez (2014) to solve problems due to individual size when estimating integration (namely, larger individuals have larger components, which will drive a correlation between components only due to resource availability that might obscure the observed measures of integration). In addition, the package also provides the classical estimation by Wagner (1984), bootstrapping and jackknife methods to calculate confidence intervals and a significance test for both integration indices.

Package MVR updated to version 1.30.3 with previous version 1.30.2 dated 2015-07-11

Title: Mean-Variance Regularization
Description: This is a non-parametric method for joint adaptive mean-variance regularization and variance stabilization of high-dimensional data. It is suited for handling difficult problems posed by high-dimensional multivariate datasets (p >> n paradigm). Among those are that the variance is often a function of the mean, variable-specific estimators of variances are not reliable, and tests statistics have low powers due to a lack of degrees of freedom. Key features include: (i) Normalization and/or variance stabilization of the data, (ii) Computation of mean-variance-regularized t-statistics (F-statistics to follow), (iii) Generation of diverse diagnostic plots, (iv) Computationally efficient implementation using C/C++ interfacing and an option for parallel computing to enjoy a faster and easier experience in the R environment.

Package cmsaf updated to version 1.6.1 with previous version 1.6 dated 2016-01-19

Title: Tools for CM SAF Netcdf Data
Description: The Satellite Application Facility on Climate Monitoring (CM SAF) is a ground segment of the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and one of EUMETSATs Satellite Application Facilities. The CM SAF contributes to the sustainable observing of the climate system by providing Essential Climate Variables related to the energy and water cycle of the atmosphere (www.cmsaf.eu). It is a joint cooperation of seven National Meteorological and Hydrological Services, including the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD). The cmsaf R-package provides a small collection of R-functions, which are inspired by the Climate Data Operators (cdo). This gives the opportunity to analyse and manipulate CM SAF data without the need of installing cdo. The cmsaf R-package is tested for CM SAF netcdf data, which are structured in three-dimensional arrays (longitude, latitude, time) on a rectangular grid. Layered CM SAF data have to be converted with the provided `levbox_mergetime` function. The cmsaf R-package functions have only minor checks for deviations from the recommended data structure, and give only few specific error messages. Thus, there is no warranty of accurate results. A Windows binary file and scripts for an easy application of the functions are provided at the CM SAF homepage (http://www.cmsaf.eu/EN/Products/Tools/Tools_node.html).

Package iterpc updated to version 0.2.8 with previous version 0.2.7 dated 2015-04-16

Title: Efficient Iterator for Permutations and Combinations
Description: It helps in 1) generating permutations and combinations with or without replacement; 2) with distinct items or non-distinct items (multiset); 3) calculating number of combinations or permutations in various situations. All generated sequences are in lexicographical order (AKA, dictionary order). The algorithms to generate permutations and combinations are memory efficient. These iterative algorithms enable users to process all sequences without putting all results in the memory at the same time. The algorithms are written in C/C++ for faster performances.
